'I'm Not Your Boy You Thugs', Furious President Kenyatta Scolds Politicians Engaging in 2022 Politics

John Wanjohi Jun 16, 2019

President Kenyatta has taken a swipe at politicians engaging in premature 2022 politics.

Speaking at the 2019 annual Akorino Conference at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday, Kenyatta vented out his anger on the leaders, describing them as thugs.

“These thugs that we elected are busy politicking. They should not think I am their boy, they will not stop me from constructing roads. They didn’t look for votes on my behalf. I went looking for my votes. This rubbish should stop bothering me,” a seemingly angry Kenyatta said while speaking in his native Kikuyu language.

“When they see me remain silent, they should not think they are threatening me. I will flush them out from where they are… Just because you are making headlines, don’t think you will bother me. And that is why I stopped concentrating on newspapers or those Facebook of theirs,” added Kenyatta.

Kenyatta's thinly-veiled attack appears to be directed at politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto, who accompanied him to the function.

“If you are an elected leader go to the grassroots construct schools, install electricity for your people stop going round telling us how you shall rise to power. You will not go anywhere without these people [the electorate],” said President Uhuru amid cheers from the audience.
