Waititu Denies Owning 50 Bank Accounts, Depositing over Sh100 Million into Daughter’s Accounts
Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has rubbished reports that his daughter has over Sh100 million in her bank accounts.
Waititu also denied claims that he has more than 50 bank accounts registered under his name and which are being investigated by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Speaking in Trans Nzoia County, the politician accused his political rivals of dragging his daughter's name to the corruption allegations held against him.
“They are lying to people on Facebook that my daughter has millions in her account, and that I have over 50 bank accounts, but all those are lies," said Waititu.
Governor Waititu further noted that his arrest last week by EACC detectives was an attempt to intimidate him into withdrawing his support for Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid.
He vowed that no amount of harassment and intimidation would stop him from backing DP Ruto.
“It is just because they saw that I am now in ‘Team Tangatanga’… nobody can force me to support Raila. The only things I fear in life are God and hot porridge,” he stated.
“The initial agreement was that the president would serve for 10 years, and then the deputy president would take over for 10 years. That is what still stands, so do not listen to anything else from anybody else,” he added.
EACC said Waititu was arrested over irregular awarding of Kiambu County government contracts worth Sh588 million.
The anti-graft watchdog added that the tenders were given to companies associated with Waititu and members of his immediate family.
