'You'll Face God on Judgment Day', Ruto Tells Those Opposed to His Church Donations

John Wanjohi May 13, 2019

Deputy President William Ruto has told off critics of his cash donations to churches.

Speaking when he attended fundraisers in more than 20 churches in Turkana County, Ruto has vowed to continue with his generosity.

Ruto questioned why his critics are offended by his gesture towards the church, adding that those opposed to his contributions will face God on the judgment day.

"We will continue to support churches and all religious groups. Those who are against church contributions will face God on judgment day," Ruto said at Naperebei Kingdom Sanctuary at Nakwamekwi in Lodwar town.
His words appear to have been directed at Opposition leader Raila Odinga, who recently called for a probe into the source of the millions Ruto donates to churches every weekend.

The Deputy President says he has helped churches raise nearly Sh500 million to ensure that 24 communities have the Bible translated in their local languages.

Ruto was accompanied by Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok, area MPs James Lomenen (Turkana South), John Lodepe (Turkana Central) and Mohammed Ali Lokiru (Turkana East).

The leaders hailed Ruto’s efforts in contributing to the development of churches.
