Four Arrested After 10 Trays of Eggs are Stolen from DP William Ruto's Home

Police officers in Eldoret have arrested four suspects in connection with the theft of 10 trays of eggs worth Sh2,500 from Deputy President William Ruto’s home in Sugoi.

Eldoret West police head Zachariah Bittok says the four were arrested with empty trays believed to have been stolen from Ruto's home in unclear circumstances.

Bittok says officers launched investigations into the matter after Ruto's farm manager reported the incident.

“Our initial investigation revealed that four workers who reside inside the homestead were involved in the theft but they all denied,” Bittok says.

After a police search, crates of eggs were recovered from the four, leading to their arrest.

"We recovered trays from various suspects. Some had two, three and so forth. We are questioning the suspects," says Bittok, adding that investigations are continuing.

The incident comes two years after a man identified as Ibrahim Mohamud- an intruder- stormed into Ruto’s Sugoi home in 2017 and opened fire, killing one police officer manning the gate.

The solo intruder was gunned down by security officers 20 hours after raiding the home.

The intruder, who is reported to have been armed, gained access to the highly-guarded residence 30 minutes after Ruto left for a campaign rally in Narok.
