President Kenyatta Visits Retired President Moi After Death of His Son Jonathan
President Kenyatta has on Monday paid retired President Daniel Arap Moi a visit at his rural home in Kabarak, Nakuru County.
Kenyatta has made the visit to personally convey his message of condolence to Moi following the death of his son Jonathan Toroitich.
“On behalf of himself and the Government of Kenya, President Uhuru Kenyatta said he was greatly saddened by the death of Jonathan,” says Moi’s press secretary and personal assistant Lee Njiru, in a statement.
President Uhuru has been received in Kabarak by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
Jonathan, a Safari Rally enthusiast, succumbed to cancer at a hospital in Nakuru on Saturday.
The 66-year-old participated in several Safari Rally competitions before hanging his boots.
He stayed away from the public limelight since he unsuccessfully run for Eldama Ravine parliamentary seat in 2002 and chose to focus on running his businesses in the agriculture, real estate, and insurance sectors.
He was the first-born son of Moi and his late wife Lena.
