John Wanjohi Mar 26, 2019

Prof. George Magoha has on Tuesday been sworn-in as the new Cabinet Secretary of Education.

Magoha has taken an oath of office in a swearing-in ceremony held at State House, Nairobi.

The ceremony was conducted by the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua and witnessed by President Kenyatta, Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita.

While commending Magoha, President Kenyatta says he looks forward to working with the new CS in implementing the new education curriculum and ensuring the 100 percent transition from primary to secondary schools is achieved.

“We have worked with you in delivering credible exams. I am now counting on you on the 100% transition from primary to secondary schools, good management of resources and in implementing the new curriculum,” says Kenyatta.

Kenyatta says he is confident Magoha will use his vast experience as a public servant to manage resources in the education docket.

Also sworn-in alongside Magoha is the new Kenya Prisons Service Commissioner-General Wycliffe Ogalo.

“We want to see you continue with the ongoing reforms. We believe that there is that ability for you and your fellow officers as well as men and women who serve under you to see how the reformed prisoners can positively contribute to the development of Kenya,” President Uhuru has told Ogalo.
