Nairobi Lawyer Assa Nyakundi Detained after Accidentally Shooting Dead 29-Year-Old Son
A Nairobi lawyer who claims to have accidentally shot dead his son on Sunday has been arrested and detained.
Assa Nyakundi Kibagedi, a city-based advocate, says he was trying to holster his gun when he accidentally shot his 29-year-old son.
Kibagendi says they were in the car when he shot his son on the chest.
He immediately rushed him to Aga Khan Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
A statement recorded at Muthaiga Police Station indicates the two were heading home from ICC Church on Mombasa Road on Sunday afternoon.
As the lawyer approached his Muthaiga North home, he reached for his pistol to holster it but accidentally pulled the trigger shooting his son who was on the back seat.
