Incoming United States Ambassador to Kenya Kyle McCarter has landed in Nairobi to take up his new duties.

McCarter has on Tuesday morning presented his credentials to President Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.

McCarter has presented his credentials alongside six other envoys from Botswana, Chile, Ethiopia, Korea, and Iceland.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta today received Letters of Credence from incoming Ambassadors and High Commissioner, from six countries. The Envoys, both resident, and nonresident presented their credentials to the President at State House, Nairobi,” State House says in a tweet.

McCarter says he's excited to be in Kenya and is ready to execute his mandate.

“Just presented credentials to his Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta. Officially in place and ready to work side by side. Tutafanya kazi pamoja,” McCarter says in a tweet.

McCarter, who was appointed to the prestigious position by President Donald Trump last year, takes over from Ambassador Robert Godec who served in the position since 2012.

McCarter and his wife Victoria have worked in Kenya for more than 30 years, having founded the Each1Feed1International Charity in Tharaka-Nithi County.

The charity helps abandoned, abused as well as orphaned children and also provides a medical clinic for those with HIV and Malaria.

The two can fluently converse in Swahili.
