Over 600 Ministry of Lands Officials Transferred over Corruption
Over 600 officers in the Ministry of Lands have been transferred to other ministries over links to corruption.
Lands Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Gideon Mung’aro says a probe into their role in the theft of public land has been launched.
Mung’aro also says there will be an overhaul of all clerical officers in the Ministry to pave way for investigations to establish whether they have been working with cartels to grab public land.
“The ministry is particularly concerned by the many cases of theft of public land reported in Thika, Ruiru and other areas and we are telling those behind these schemes that it is only a matter of time before catch up with them,” he says.
For instance, more than 20 clerks at the Thika Land registry have received letters of transfer to other ministries within Kiambu and Murang’a Counties.
Some of those who have been redeployed to other ministries include land adjudication officers and surveyors.
“Besides the transfers, any officer found to have been involved in irregular deals will be suspended and legal action taken against them,” Mung’aro says.
He has also appealed to members of the public to surrender the information they have that may help with the investigation.
