John Wanjohi Feb 18, 2019

State House has announced that French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Kenya in mid-March.

In a statement, State House says Macron will hold bilateral talks with President Kenyatta during the two-day visit.

The discussions between the two leaders will focus on cementing the existing ties between the two countries.

"Traditionally, Kenya and France enjoy strong bilateral ties and I am pleased that we've continued to deepen the relations. I look forward to the visit by President Macron," the statement from State House reads.

State House also says Kenyatta and Macron will discuss the proposed Rapid Transit Train Service running from the Nairobi central business district to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

"The proposed rapid transit train service between Nairobi Central Business District and the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is among projects expected to feature prominently when President Kenyatta hosts the French leader in Nairobi."

French Ambassador to Kenya Aline Kuster-Menager has also confirmed that President Macron will visit the country for two days but the dates are yet to be confirmed.

This will be his first visit to Kenya and East Africa since he was elected in 2017.
