DusitD2 Attack: Police Arrest 'Al-Shabaab Bride' Violet Kemunto Omwoyo
Police on Friday arrested Violet Kemunto Omwoyo as swoop for suspects involved in the January 15th terror attack at DusitD2 complex in Westlands, Nairobi escalates.
The Star reports that Kemunto, who calls herself 'Al-Shabaab bride' has been arrested in Makueni County and is set to be questioned before being arraigned in court.
She is the wife of Ali Salim Gichunge, the Al-Shabaab fighter who coordinated the attack that left 21 people dead and several others injured.
Kemunto went into hiding immediately after the attack and initial intelligence indicated she had escaped to Somalia via Mandera County.
Days before the attack, Kemunto allegedly used a fake Facebook account to advertise the sale of several household items, saying she was moving out of Nairobi.
The couple had been living in an apartment in Guango estate, Ruaka, Kiambu County for a period of three months and are said to have hosted the other attackers.
More personal 15 suspects have already been arrested and arraigned in court in connection with the attack.
Somalia-based Islamic terrorist organization, Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in retaliation to US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel.
