Two Suspects Arrested in Connection with Dusit2 Terror Attack in Nairobi

Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the Tuesday terror attack at dusitD2 Complex along 14 Riverside Drive in Nairobi's Westlands area.

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti says one of the suspects only identified as Kemunto has been arrested in Mucatha, Ruaka, Kiambu County.

"We have arrested two suspects. The two are principal suspects who are being interrogated over the attack," Kinoti says.

Kemunto has been apprehended at a house where one of the attackers is said to have been living for a couple of months. Kinoti says the other male suspect has been arrested in Eastleigh area in Nairobi.

The two suspects have been taken to the DCI headquarters for interrogation even as investigations into the attack continue.

In a televised address to the nation on Wednesday morning, President Kenyatta has confirmed that 14 people lost their lives during the attack. He has also confirmed that all the gunmen involved in the attack have been eliminated.

“The security operation at Dusit is over and the terrorists eliminated. As of this moment, we have confirmation that 14 innocent lives were lost through the hands of these murderous terrorists with other injured,” says Kenyatta.

Kenyatta has also assured the country that security forces will pursue all those involved in the planning, facilitating or funding the terrorists.

“We will seek out every person that was involved in the funding, planning, and execution of this heinous act. We will pursue relentlessly wherever they will be until they are held to account,” he assures.

“We are a nation that never forgets those who hurt our children. We are grieving as a country and my heart goes out to all the innocent men and women violated by the senseless violence."

Somalia-based Islamic terror organization, Al-Shabab has since claimed responsibility for the attack.
