Jubilee Vice-Chair David Murathe Vows to Move to Supreme Court to Block DP William Ruto's 2022 Presidential Bid

Jubilee Party Vice-Chairperson David Murathe has threatened to move to the Supreme Court to block Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

Speaking during the burial of Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju’s brother, Kefa Oduor Murathe argues that Ruto has served his two terms as stipulated by the Constitution and can't run for President in 2022.

Murathe says the seat of the President and Deputy President fall under the Presidency, meaning Ruto has exhausted his two terms and should proceed to retirement with President Kenyatta in 2022.

"In the event the president is not here, who represents him? It's the Deputy. This presidency is a pair," Murathe says.

The Jubilee party official further says he's ready to move to the apex court in a bid to have Ruto barred from running for President in the next election.

“.... Na nitaenda mpaka Supreme Court. Sisi hatucheki na watu,” Murathe says.

His latest remarks come two weeks after he called on Ruto to exit the political stage in 2022, stating that the ruling party and the Kikuyu community have no MoU to support his 2022 presidential bid.

“We have no MoU with anyone that we will support them in 2022. If he has any deal with Uhuru Kenyatta, then that is an agreement between the two of them,” Murathe said at a past event.
