We Will Recover Funds Looted from NYS, President Kenyatta Declares

John Wanjohi Nov 16, 2018

President Kenyatta has vowed to ensure that individuals involved in siphoning of taxpayers cash from the National Youth Service (NYS) will pay the price and the funds recovered.

Kenyatta says his administration will not watch as a few individuals pocket millions of shillings meant to benefit thousands of youth in the country.

“We shall ensure that all those who have looted resources meant for the youth pay the price and the money recovered,’’ declares Kenyatta.

He adds: “We cannot and will not allow this to continue.”

Speaking when he presided over the pass out parade of more than 16,000 recruits at the NYS Training College in Gilgil, Nakuru County, the President says the NYS will play an active role in the achievement of his Big Four Agenda, especially manufacturing and food security.

“The NYS will certainly play a significant role in the success of the Big 4, not least in contributing to the two key pillars, manufacturing and food security,” says Uhuru.

“To meet the demands of the Big 4 Agenda, skilled men and women, especially in the technical competencies — are absolutely vital."

Kenyatta has further called on Parliament to fast track the passing of the NYS Bill 2018, which is currently before the National Assembly. He says the bill will pave the way towards the introduction of a raft of measures meant to create stronger structures for oversight.
