Ctizen TV News Anchor Jacque Maribe Arrested over Monica Kimani's Murder
Police on Saturday evening arrested Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe in connection with the murder of Monica Kimani.
Monica was murdered at her apartment in Nairobi’s Kilimani area last week and her body dumped in a bathtub with the throat slit.
Confirming her arrest, Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti said they have sufficient evidence to charge her with the murder of Ms Kimani.
“She is now in custody as a suspect in the murder. We have sufficient evidence to charge her in court on Monday," Kinoti told Capital FM News.
Jacque's fiancée, Joseph Irungu alias Jowie—a prime suspect in the murder, was apprehended last week and charged. The court allowed police to detain him for ten days pending conclusion of investigations.
Irungu allegedly used Maribe’s car to visit Monica house on the fateful night. She was killed hours after jetting back to the country from South Sudan, where she reportedly run a family business.
Her brother said Monica was scheduled to fly to Dubai the following day to meet her South Sudanese boyfriend and proceed for vacation.
The 29-year-old woman was laid to rest at her parents home in Gilgil, Nakuru county on Friday.
