President Kenyatta Traveled with Kalonzo to China Summit
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is reported to be part of the Kenyan delegation that traveled to China together with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Wiper party Executive Director Jared Siso confirmed to The Star that Musyoka is accompanying the President to Beijing for the ongoing Forum on Chino-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
"I don’t think when such a thing happens it is not out of the normal. The President can wish to consult anybody and if he deems fit to have Kalonzo in his delegation why not?" Siso posed.
"I can confirm is that the Party leader is out of the country. From my end, I think I will leave it at that," he added without disclosing the role of the former Vice President in the delegation.
Kalonzo is said to have traveled with the delegation on Friday and checked into a hotel booked by Kenya's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing alongside other members of the team.
Speaking during the forum on Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced $60 billion (Sh6 trillion) in financing for Africa.
"The money will be channelled to projects aligned to the Chinese Government’s Belt and Road Initiative covering telecommunication, construction of roads, bridges and seaports, energy, and human capacity development," President Uhuru said on Monday.
Kenyatta is expected to hold talks with Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the summit that will conclude on September 5th.
