I Have Nothing to Hide, Deputy President William Ruto Says as He Welcomes Lifestyle Audit
Deputy President William Ruto has declared he is ready to undergo a lifestyle audit as ordered on all state officers by President Kenyatta in the fight on graft
Addressing High School principals attending the 43rd Kenya Secondary School Headteachers Association annual conference in Mombasa on Wednesday, the Deputy President said he will lead by example by being among the first to undergo the audit.
“The President pronounced government policy on every public servant to be subjected to a lifestyle audit and it is expected that every public servant will submit themselves for lifestyle audit when that time comes. William Ruto will be among the first for that exercise,” said the Deputy President on Wednesday.
Ruto also scoffed at the media for turning the order on wealth audit into a personal matter focused at him.
“I can see already, the media has done some work on me. I did expect that the following day it would be someone else, but it is stopped with me. I thought that this lifestyle audit was meant for all public servants?” posed Ruto.
“We must all of us go through audit because Kenya is the only country we have. Everyone of us must play his or her role to make sure the country moves forward,” said Ruto.
Ruto said there is a lot of falsehoods being told by the media about what he owns, stating that the truth will come out after the audit, adding that he has nothing to hide.
