President Kenyatta Vows to Decisively Deal with Corrupt Officials
President Kenyatta has warned that stern action will be taken against any corrupt government officials regardless the positions they hold.
Speaking at State House, Nairobi on Monday, the President maintained that State officials must account for every cent allocated to their dockets.
“We are not going to tolerate unethical people. People with responsibility must be ready to serve and not to be served,” said the Head of State.
President Uhuru spoke when he presented a new 51-seater bus and gym equipment, all valued at Sh8 million, to Kenya High School.
The President's warning comes in the wake of multi-billion scandals that have been unearthed in various government agencies including National Youth Service (NYS), National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), Kenya Power and Kenya Pipeline Company.
On Sunday and Monday morning, 20 suspects at the centre of Sh9 billion scandal at the NYS were arrested and are currently being detained before being arraigned in court on Tuesday.
Those in custody include NYS Director-General Richard Ndubai and Youth Affairs Principal Secretary Lillian Omollo.
