You Can Now Buy Safaricom, Brookside Products, Raila Tells NASA Supporters
Opposition leader Raila Odinga has announced the end of boycott on products from different companies listed by National Super Alliance (Nasa) after last year's presidential elections.
Odinga said that Nasa supporters are now free to purchase and consume products from Safaricom, Brookside, Bidco and Haco industries following his handshake with President Kenyatta.
Speaking during Labour Day celebrations at Uhuru Park on Tuesday, the Orange Democratic Movement leader said the ‘ban’ has now been lifted.
“When we were competing politically [shortly after disputed October 26, 2017 poll], we had a lot of anger towards companies which were Jubilee-friendly. We consequently urged our supporters to boycott products from Safaricom, Brookside, Bidco and Haco Industries."
“This is because we were concerned that they may have been helping to usurp the will of the people and assist the Jubilee-led Government to oppress NASA supporters,” he said.
“But, today, Uhuru and I are working together. We want to iron out issues, correct things which went wrong. We’ve even formed a committee which will see peace and reconciliation reached among our supporters.
“And, I therefore, lift the boycott order we had issued against the four firms. We’ve forgiven Safaricom, Bidco, Brookside and Haco. Our people can now trade, use and buy products from these firms,” Raila added.
In his speech, Odinga also urged the government to create a friendly business environment in order to reduce the cost of living in the country.
