We Want NASA to Go ahead with the Swearing-in Ceremony, Jubilee Party Vice Chair Says

Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe says that the party wants National Super Alliance (Nasa) to go ahead with the planned swearing in of its leader Raila Odinga, set for Tuesday.

Murathe said that allowing the opposition to hold the fete will finally enable the country move on from last year's disputed presidential election.

"We want them to finish the so-called swearing-in so that we put behind us these endless and meaningless threats," he said.

Speaking to Sunday Nation, Murathe downplayed claims that the government has panicked over the plan, noting that President Kenyatta and Deputy President are focused on delivering their agenda.

"We are not bothered at all by their actions and if you have noticed, at no point has the President and Deputy President pronounced themselves on this circus," he noted.

"The only challenge, though, is the climate of uncertainty and anxiety, which Nasa is creating. No self-respecting government can watch helplessly as our economy is destabilised by a people keen on fomenting a revolution," Murathe told the Nation.
