Activist Accused of Fixing Deputy President William Ruto at the ICC Passes Away
Human Rights activist Ken Wafula, the man who was accused of fixing Deputy President William Ruto at the International Criminal Court (ICC) has passed on at a hospital in Eldoret following a short illness.
Wafula, who was the Executive Director at the Center of Human Rights and Democracy passed away while receiving treatment at St. Luke Hospital, Eldoret on Tuesday evening.
“He was admitted yesterday at noon after developing breathing problems,” said a family member.
The 45-year-old supported the prosecution of Deputy President William Ruto and his co-accused, Radio presenter Joshua Arap Sang at the Hague-based court, but later withdrew his statements and apologized.
The father of three said he found out that prosecution witnesses in the case had been coached and paid as confirmed by Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria.
“Everyone thought that I fixed Ruto and Sang. Now that Kuria had come out, the truth could finally be known,” said Wafula in the past.
He unsuccessfully contested for the Trans Nzoia county senatorial seat as an independent candidate during August 8th, 2017 elections.
