President Uhuru Can Appoint Whoever He Wants to Cabinet, DP William Ruto Says
Deputy President William Ruto says it is the mandate of President Kenyatta to decide who to appoint to the Cabinet.
Speaking when he accompanied the president to the burial of three Africa Independent Pentecostal Church (AIPCA) bishops in Meru County on Tuesday, Ruto asked Kenyans to stop speculating on who will make it to the Cabinet and give the Head of State time to constitute the team he wants to work with.
Ruto further said that he has no powers to dictate to the president on who to appoint or nominates to the cabinet and urged those to be appointed to focus on serving the country.
“We should all give the president room to pick Cabinet Secretaries without speculating on who will make it or not,” said DP Ruto.
“Whoever will be appointed, you are appointed to serve all Kenyans. Stay clear of politics,” he said.
Ruto also ruled chances of engaging the opposition on election-related dialogue saying focus should now be on developing the country.
“We almost spent the whole of last year politicking. We will not participate in any debate on who won the election or not,” said the Deputy President.
