Sacked Cabinet Secretaries to Remain in Office
Sacked Cabinet Secretaries will remain in office until President Kenyatta completes constituting his new cabinet, State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu has said.
Esipisu's statement comes barely a day after the President unveiled a partial cabinet, consisting of six CSs from the previous cabinet, while 13 of them were shown the exit door.
“This is to clarify that the Cabinet Secretaries currently in office remain so, as instructed in a memorandum from the Head of Public Service in December 2017, until otherwise advised,” read the statement by Esipisu on Saturday.
“His Excellency will complete the task of assembling the team…guided by merit, integrity, commitment to service, and in terms of the Constitution,” continued the statement.
Among those retained include Fred Matiang'i (Interior and Coordination of Government), James Macharia (Transport), Joe Mucheru (ICT), Henry Rotich (Treasury), Charles Keter (Energy) and Najib Balala (Tourism).
New appointees to the cabinet pending vetting and approval by Parliament include; former Marsabit Governor Ukur Yattani, former Turkana Senator John Munyes and immediate former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko.
