Uhuru, Raila Set to Share Podium at Former MP Nyenze's Funeral

President Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga are set to share podium for the first time since the former took Oath of Office for his second and final term.

The two political rivals are expected to meet on Tuesday, at the burial of the late Kitui West Member of Parliament, Francis Nyenze in Kitui county.

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi confirmed the President and Deputy President William Ruto will attend the burial ceremony of Nyenze, who served as the leader of Minority in the 11th Parliament.

Mr Nyenze passed on last week while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital, after a 10-year battle with cancer of colon.

National Super Alliance co-principal and Bungoma senator Moses Wetang'ula also confirmed that opposition leaders led by Odinga and Kalonzo will also be present at the funeral.

Their meeting will come in the wake of a disputed presidential election, where Odinga has vowed not to recognise Kenyatta as President, arguing that he lacks legitimacy.

Odinga and his running mate Musyoka walked out of the race for the repeat poll ordered by the Supreme Court after invalidation of the August 8th one, citing refusal by electoral commission to undertake reforms that would guarantee a credible election.
