NASA Releases Programme to be Used during Raila 'Swearing-in' Ceremony
The National Super Alliance (NASA) has released the program to be used during opposition leader Raila Odinga's swearing-in ceremony scheduled for December 12th.
Speaking to the media at Okoa Kenya Secretariat in Nairobi, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen confirmed the event is on but declined to reveal the venue and invited guests.
“We will open with a national anthem followed by prayers led by various religious leaders. Then there will be a formal declaration of the congregation gathered. The fourth item will be adoption of the agenda. The fifth item will be the inauguration of the leadership and the sixth will be the address by leaders of the assembly,” said Ong’wen.
He further said that a secretariat has set to manage the logistics of the constitutive assembly. “Since this committee was established last week we have put in place a secretariat to manage the work of the preparation of the assembly. The secretariat will be based at Okoa Kenya and the head of that secretariat will be Dr Noah Akala,” said Ong’wen.
This comes one day after Attorney General Githu Muigai warned the opposition leader that he could be charged with treason, which is punishable by death, if he is sworn in as president.
“There is proposed to be another swearing-in of another person. I want to start by saying for the avoidance of any doubt, the Constitution provides in clear terms that no person may claim or exercise state authority except as authorized by the Constitution,” the AG said.
