NASA MPs to Execute Raila's Plan to Derail President Uhuru's Government
National Super Alliance (NASA) has maintained that it will not be submitting its list of members to form the Committee of Appointment of the National Assembly.
The committee is headed by National Assembly Speaker and its mandate is to vet Cabinet nominees appointed by the President.
The newly appointed Leader Minority in the National Assembly, John Mbadi reiterated that the opposition will boycott the vetting process of the nominees in one of the strategies Nasa plans to employ in crippling President Uhuru's administration.
If Nasa makes true its threat, President Uhuru could find difficulties in reconstituting his Cabinet, especially if he plans to replace the existing Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries with new ones following his re-election.
Nasa's boycott to the committee is informed by its Maanzoni Declaration, made in Machakos County last weekend. The declaration stated that the coalition doesn't recognise Uhuru as President.
“We do not want to be party to the appointment of CSs because we do not recognise the election of President Uhuru Kenyatta as President,” Mbadi, who is the Suba South MP said.
“This is the reason why we will not participate in the formation of this committee and the possibility of vetting his CSs.”
Having taken Oath of Office for his second term on Tuesday, Uhuru is expected to commence the process of picking his new cabinet to help him deliver his agenda as his reign enters home stretch period.
