Judgement to be Ready on Monday, Chief Justice David Maraga Says
Chief Justice David Maraga says that the six Supreme Court judges are still writing their individual judgments on the two petitions seeking nullification of President Uhuru's October 26th victory.
Speaking to the media after attending a church service at Nairobi Central Seventh Day Adventist Church on Saturday, the President of Judiciary assured Kenyans that the judgement will be ready on Monday.
''We will burn the midnight oil and deliver the judgment at about 11 a.m, on Monday'' a smiling Maraga told journalists outside the Nairobi Central Seventh Adventist Church.
The hearings of the two petitions concluded on Thursday evening after petitioners, respondents and interested parties made their oral submissions before the six judges.
Chief Justice David Maraga, his deputy Philomena Mwilu and justices Njoki Ndung'u, Jackton Ojwang, Smoking Wanjala and Isaac Lenaola presided over the petition.
The first petition was filed by former Kilome MP Harun Mwau, while the second was lodged by members of civil society, Njonjo Mue and Khelef Khalifa.
The respondents were Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, its chair Wafula Chebukati and President Uhuru. Presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot and Attorney General Githu Muigai were interested parties in the two petitions.
