NASA Reveals Plans to Push for Constitutional Referendum

National Super Alliance (NASA) has revealed plans to call for referendum in a bid to push for electoral justice.

Speaking during a funeral in Vihiga county on Saturday, Nasa principal Musalia Mudavadi said the referendum will ensure necessary amendments to the Constitution to ensure electoral justice is attained.

"We will soon call for [a] referendum where we will seek to ensure that people's power is felt. Jubilee intends to use its numerical strength in Parliament and this is what we want to tame," Mudavadi said.

The Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader maintained that Nasa will not recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as a duly and legitimately elected President.

"We do not recognize the elections of August 8 and October 26. We want a new constitutional arrangement, electoral justice and respect for every vote cast," he said at Sabatia Primary School in Vihiga County during the burial of Mrs Mary Muhonja.

Vihiga Senator George Khaniri chided at those calling for peace at the expense of justice, stating that justice is a requisite for peace. "People call for peace and stability but forget the need for justice. Without justice, there is no peace," he said.

The senator defended the establishment of People's Assembly by Nasa, saying that it is for the good of Kenyans.

"We are not doing this for Raila Odinga but the future generations. Perennial rigging of elections is disenfranchising other potential leaders from ascending to the presidency," the lawmaker said.
