NASA Products Boycott Call Has Flopped, Lobby Group Says

John Wanjohi Nov 11, 2017

A lobby group affiliated to the Jubilee Party claims that opposition National Super Alliance's products boycott call announced last week has flopped.

Speaking to the press in Nairobi on Friday evening, Council of Professionals of Kenya (CPK) said that the call by NASA has failed to deliver the results expected by its leaders.

CPK chairman Ababu Namwamba rubbished reports in the media that Safaricom has lost Sh20 billion in market valuation in a week of Nasa boycott call.

The former Budalangi MP further said the boycott may do more harm than good to those it’s intended to help. “It is outrageous that a leading telecommunication company can be said to have lost Sh20 billion in a week, money which it does not make in a week. It is a report that has been instigated by Nasa spin doctors to deceive the world that the country was actually in an economic crisis,” he said.

He added: “It never happens in a progressive country at all to tell somebody, ‘don’t buy this or that,’. It is completely ridiculous and I believe it will not go far."

Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich also assured Kenyans that the boycott call by the opposition will have no impact on the economy.
