NASA People's Assembly Sessions to Begin in Two Weeks
National Super Alliance (NASA) says the first sessions of its recently launched people's assembly will start in the next two weeks.
Speaking during a rally at Kamukunji grounds in Kibera, Siaya Senator James Orengo said Nasa MPs would abandon Parliament to pursue the agenda of people's assembly.
"Tumeacha Bunge, sasa tumeanzisha People's Assembly ambayo kikao cha kwanza itaanza ndani ya wiki mbili (We are done with Parliament and we have started on the People's Assembly which shall commence within two weeks)," he declared.
Orengo further said Nasa is not interested in whatever the Supreme Court would rule in case a petition challenging President Uhuru's is filed before the court.
He said that the coalition recognizes Raila as their President. " Sisi hatutangoja uamuzi wa korti, tutatoa mwelekeo wetu wa kumtambua Raila Odinga kama rais wa Kenya (We shall not wait for the decision of the courts for we shall set our own directive to recognize Mr Odinga as the president of Kenya)" he added.
The senator was flanked by Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris , MPs Millie Odhiambo, Babu Owino and Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga.
On Friday, Nasa allied governors endorsed the formation of the assemblies in their respective counties following a meeting with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
On Saturday, Orengo said the coalition will hold a mega anti-Uhuru demonstration in Nairobi, as part of its plan to oppose the Jubilee government.
