Raila Announces Parallel Mashujaa Day Celebrations for NASA Supporters
National Super Alliance (NASA) will be holding a parallel Mashujaa Day celebrations on Friday.
Speaking during a media briefing on Tuesday, National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga said that the opposition will organize a separate fete to mourn the “innocent young men” who were reportedly shot dead by police during the anti-IEBC demonstrations as President Uhuru holds his at Uhuru Park.
“On Friday, we will mark the memory of these victims as heroes of the struggle for electoral justice at a venue to be disclosed later. On that day, we shall communicate our next course of action,” Raila said.
The former Prime Minister said that NASA leaders and supporters “will have a mourning session in respect to the three killed by police in Bondo, before leading a funeral service for the student killed on Monday.”
President Uhuru Kenyatta will lead the Nation in marking Mashujaa day fete at Uhuru Park in Nairobi on Friday.
On Tuesday, Raila announced that the coalition had called off their daily anti-electoral commission and would issue further instructions on Friday.
The opposition is expected to hold a rally at Nairobi’s Kamukunji Grounds on Wednesday and proceed to Turkana county on Thursday.
