President Uhuru Vows to Sign Proposed Election Bill into Law

President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed to sign the proposed election bill into law if Parliament passes it.

Speaking during a campaign tour in Kilifi County on Tuesday, the Head of State said he would not hesitate to assent to the bill, saying that it addresses most of the issues raised by Nasa and the Supreme Court.

“I have no problem with that law and if Parliament passes (the bills), I will sign, I don’t have any problem with it because it contains contentious issues raised by the opposition,” he said.

Uhuru said that the Jubilee government had not sidelined the coast region, adding that he will serve all Kenyans, regardless of who they vote for.

“I know even the person who voted for the opposition is a Kenyan, who is looking for a President to deliver. I will definitely do that and the flagship projects currently undertaken by my administration will not be abandoned,” he said.

Deputy President William Ruto thanked residents for the over 50,000 votes they got in the cancelled August election.

“We know that you participated in a constitutional exercise and the results you gave us is what you managed to give. We are not bitter. We are all Kenyans and the Kilifi people are part of Jubilee government. We will not abandon you,” the DP said.

Former Kilifi North MP, Gideon Mung’aro, who unsuccessfully contested for Kilifi governor seat called on residents to vote for President Kenyatta in the fresh elections.
