Why a Nyeri MCA Wants Female Colleagues Barred from Wearing Miniskirts
A Member of Nyeri County Assembly (MCA) is lamenting the decision of his female colleagues who arrive at the assembly dressed in miniskirt.
Speaking during a session on Wednesday, Karatina Ward MCA Watson Mburungo told Speaker John Kaguchia that their female colleagues clad in the 'tempting' dresses were capturing their minds, thus affecting their ability to debate on issues.
“Some of us cannot concentrate as we sit across our female MCAs. Kindly, advise us on the mode of dressing,” he said.
The MCAs had been discussing Governor Wahome Gakuru’s opening speech when Mr Mburungo rose to seek orders on how women in the Assembly should dress.
This left other MCAs bursting into laughter as Mburugo picked on one female ward rep, whom he accused of dressing skimpily.
“It is difficult for some of us to concentrate when our counterparts are in miniskirt,” said the outspoken MCA.
However, the Speaker ruled the MCA was out of order, and asked members to continue making their observations on the governor's maiden speech.
“We are debating on the governor’s speech to the assembly, you cannot introduce something different,” he said.
