President Uhuru Kenyatta has reacted to an insult directed at him by Embakasi East ML Babu Owino.

During a National Super Alliance (NASA) political rally in Kawangware on Sunday Babu Owino said " Kama Gaddafi alitolewa na wananchi, kama Gbagbo alitolewa na wananchi, kama Yahya Jammeh alitolewa na wananchi, wewe ni nani? Wewe ni mtoto wa (sic) (If Gaddafi, Gbabgbo, Yahya Jammeh were removed by the citizens, who are you? You are a son of a (sic)."

Through his official Twitter account, the Head of State played down the situation and urged leaders to stop misleading youth into insulting their elders.

"Let us stop going around teaching our young men to insult their elders but rather focus on giving our children a quality education," Uhuru posted.

Speaking while on a campaign trail in Tharaka Nithi and Embu Counties on Monday, President Uhuru said that there is no place for insults in Jubilee, adding that Nasa can continue with insults while they seek to unite Kenyans.

Babu Owino’s reckless sentiments sparked protests in President Uhuru's bedrock of Juja Town, Thika Town, Githunguri, Limuru, Githurai, Ruiru, Gatundu and Kiambu town on Monday, as the protestors demanded for immediate arrest of Owino.

The MP was arrested on Monday evening and spent the night at Pangani police station. He was arraigned in Milimani law courts on Tuesday morning.
