Hundreds of Jubilee Supporters Demonstrate Outside Supreme Court Over Nullification of President Uhuru's Win
Hundreds of Jubilee supporters on Tuesday staged peaceful demonstrations outside the Supreme Court accusing the judges of unfairly overturning President Uhuru Kenyatta’s August 8th victory.
The demonstrators waved placards against Chief Justice David Maraga accusing him of slowing the country after nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win.
The protesters, mainly donning red t-shirts were also demanding for the swearing in of President Uhuru Kenyatta or a re-count of the votes among others.
A couple of police officers deployed around the Judiciary were watching from a distance, waiting to act in case the demos turned violent.
The protests come amid a petitioner filed an ouster bid with the Judicial Service Commission seeking probe and removal of Justice Isaac Lenaola and Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu over alleged collusion with Siaya Senator James Orengo and Moses Wetangula to have Kenyatta’s win annulled.
The damning was filed by Derrick Malika on Monday. It shows that the four were in constant communication during the proceedings.
The petitioner accused the two judges of gross misconduct and is seeking to have the judges removed from office.
