John Wanjohi Sep 17, 2017

A man was on Thursday arrested by Nairobi City Council askaris after reportedly skinning a cat and making samosas from its meat.

The man, identified as Richard Muriithi Karuai was taken in by the officers in Nairobi'a Eastleigh area in possession of cat meat and was arraigned at City Hall courts.

Police were allowed by the court to detained at Central police station as investigations continue, Nairobi central OCPD Robinson Thuku said.

It was not immediately established how many people may have fallen victim to his conman-ship.

While eating cat meat is popular in some countries, cases of people consuming cat meat in desperation during wartime or poverty have been reported in war tone nations.

For instance, in Cameroon, there is a special ceremony featuring cat-eating that is thought to bring good luck.

In China's Guangdong and Guangxi provinces, it is reported that some people, mostly the elderly consider cat meat a good warming food during winter months.
