Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua Hits Campaign Trail in Ukambani in Support of President Uhuru
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has launched campaigns for President Uhuru Kenyatta's reelection ahead of October 17th repeat election.
Speaking while drumming up support for the President in Machakos County, the county boss exuded confidence that Kenyatta would recapture the country's seat following nullification of his victory in last month's polls.
“The Supreme Court invalidated the polls on grounds of irregularities and illegalities in the process but not the number of votes Uhuru garnered on August 8,” Mutua said.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader addressed a series of rallies in Kakuyuni and Tala in Kangundo constituency where he reiterated his commitment to contest the Presidency in 2022 election.
Mutua urged Kambas to rally behind Kenyatta’s re-election so that it could put him (Mutua) in prime position to seek support from central Kenya when the time comes.
He promised his Maendeleo Chap Chap party would intensely campaign for Jubilee in Ukambani ahead of the October 17 poll and vowed to deliver more votes to Uhuru from the region.
Mutua dismissed Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka claiming that he has been short changed by the National Super Alliance and its flag bearer Raila Odinga.
Mutua said Musyoka is not guaranteed a direct ticket to be the alliance flag bearer in 2022 but will be subjected to nominations.
“With Western Kenya having a larger voting bloc than Eastern, the most likely candidate will be Musalia Mudavadi,” Mutua said.
He asked Ukambani residents to vote for Kenyatta who would return the favor in 2022 and mobilize the Central Kenya to rally behind his bid.
