Raila Names Six IEBC Officials He Wants Kicked Out of Office
Opposition chief Raila Odinga has threatened to boycott the repeat election ordered by the Supreme Court if Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) fails to make changes to its staff and systems.
In statement to the Media on Tuesday, Raila also expressed concerns over locking out of other presidential candidates in the repeat presidential polls, noting that the Supreme Court ordered for a fresh polls.
In a statement, Raila listed six IEBC officials that must be sent home, before the commission conducts a fresh polls.
The former Prime Minister named IEBC Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba, Deputy Commission Secretary (Operations) Betty Nyabuto, ICT DirectorJames Muhati, Director Voter Registration and Elections Operations Immaculate Kassait, Director Legal and Public Affairs Praxedes Tororey and Moses Kipkogey, Manager Legal Department and Advisor to the CEO as officials who must be thrown out of the commission.
"There will be no elections on the 17th unless these our demands are met," Odinga said.
Raila also rejected the October 17th date set by IEBC for the repeat poll, claiming that the commission did not consult him and other stakeholders. He also alleged that the date was set by President Uhuru's Jubilee party and not IEBC.
Nasa proposed the repeat election be held either on 24th or 31st of October.
