Raila Calls for Immediate Prosecution of IEBC Officials Following Nullification of Uhuru's Victory
National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga has declared fresh war with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Speaking outside the Supreme Court moments after the nullification of President Kenyatta’s re-election, the former Prime Minister said they would push for the removal of the commission as the nullification of the election proved the existing commission has no capacity to hold another poll.
Odinga, who was in the race for State House for the fourth time on August 8th election said they do not have faith in the commission headed by Wafula Wanyonyi Chebukati.
Raila called for the prosecution of the IEBC Officials "for the crime they committed against the people of Kenya." "This is a historic moment for Kenya and Africa. Our journey to Canaan is unstoppable. We have no faith in IEBC," he said. " I thank our team of lawyers who burnt the midnight oil in preparation of this case. Like I said before, our journey to Caanan is unstoppable and we shall get there,".
“We have no faith at all in the electoral commission, they have committed criminal acts most of them actually belonging to jail and therefore we are going to ask for their prosecution,” Raila stressed.
