Supreme Court Grants Raila Odinga Restricted Access to IEBC Servers

The Supreme Court on Monday morning granted Opposition leader Raila Odinga's request to have access to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission's servers.

However, the Court only granted Raila's team 'read only access' to IEBC servers without endangering their firewall.

"The petitioners and the third respondents shall be granted a read only access of information related to number of servers, files without the disclosure of software version," Supreme Court Judge, Justice Isaac Lenaola said on Monday.

Further Lenaola further ruled that the petitioners be given access login trails of users into the IEBC servers and also access to password policy and password matrix.

"They should also be given certified copies of certificates of penetrations test prior to elections, specific groups location of KIEMS within August 5 to 11," Lenaola ruled.

"A certified list of KIEMS kits procured and not used during elections." He added.

Lenaola warned the applicants to take into account the time the court has in making the final ruling in their scrutiny on the electoral commission's servers.

Court also ruled IEBC to submit certified copies of original Forms 34A and 34B.

Raila, through his legal team had made a request for court to order the IEBC allow them full access of their servers in their petition filed at the Court.

Respondents' legal teams led by Senior counsel Paul Muite for IEBC and Fred Ngatia for Uhuru Kenyatta welcomed the court ruling.

" We welcome the ruling, as I said earlier, my client has nothing to hide," Paul Muite said.
