Supreme Court Pushes Hearing on Presidential Petition to Monday

John Wanjohi Aug 27, 2017

The Supreme Court has postponed its ruling on interlocutory applications from 2pm to 7pm Sunday, contrary to what had been agreed at the pre-trial hearing on Saturday night in the ongoing presidential petition case challenging President Uhuru's re-election.

In a statement issued by the Supreme Court registrar Esther Nyaiyaki on Sunday afternoon, the Supreme Court also rescheduled the formal hearing of the case to begin Monday at 9am.

The actual hearing has been slated to begin at 3 pm on Sunday.

The Supreme Court Registrar, however, did not give reasons why the changes were effected. “Good afternoon, rulings will be delivered at 7pm today and not 2pm. Hearing will commence at 9am tomorrow morning. Notices to follow shortly,” Nyaiyaki indicated in the statement.
