Anti-Hate Commission Rubbishes NASA's Secession Calls

The Nation Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) says that the secession debate started by Opposition coalition National Super Alliance (NASA) is reckless and meant to divide the country along ethnic lines for political gains.

Addressing a press briefing on Friday in Nairobi, NCIC Chairperson Francis Kaparo accused those advocating for secession of serving their selfish interests of taking over power using unorthodox methods.

“The commission thinks that this whole debate on secession has the capacity to destabilize our social fabric it is not good for the stability of our country if anybody who loses an election dismembers Kenya then what are we left with I think its reckless,” Kaparo cautioned.

NASA chief strategist, Economist David Ndii has been in the forefront with the secession debate dubbed "petition for Self Determination", which has been dismissed by many as effects of losing the election.

In the petition, Ndii calls for secession of some tribes in Kenya, mostly from the western and coastal regions, who he says have been rendered slaves in their own country by main tribes, who have clinged on power since independence.

Kaparo called on Kenyans to maintain peace and ignore the secession calls as they wait a verdict filed by the the opposition at the Supreme Court, challenging President Uhuru's reelection.
