A postmortem examination carried out on a woman found dead alongside IEBC ICT director Chris Msando has revealed that she was also strangled.

Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor said that killers squeezed the neck and throat of 21 year-old Carol Ngumbu. He said she succumbed to "asphyxia as a result of ligature strangulation", the inability to breathe due to tying of the neck tightly.

The autopsy conducted at the City Mortuary in Nairobi was witnessed by Ms Ngumbu's family and police.

Her body was transferred to Kihara Mortuary that is near Gachie, Kiambu County where the family lives. Alice Nduruka, Ngumbu's mother on Tuesday described her daughter as calm and peaceful.

A similar autopsy carried out on Chris Msando also revealed that he suffered a similar fate in the hands of the murderers, who dumped the pair's bodies in a forest in Kikuyu, Kiambu County.

“He died from strangulation and he also had incisions on his right arm, but the rest of the body was intact,” Dr Oduor said on Wednesday in reference to Msando.

The ICT boss disappeared on Friday evening, but his body was found together with that of Ngumbu at Muguga Forest over the weekend. Six people have so far been questioned in connection to the murder of the two even as their death continue to drew condemnation from leaders and the international community.
