President Uhuru Gives Nkaissery's Wife a Government Job

John Wanjohi Jul 17, 2017

Following the sudden death of her husband late General Joseph Nkaissery, President Uhuru Kenyatta has offered Hellen Nkaissery a job.

President Kenyatta has appointed Hellen Nkaissery to head a Jubilee government initiative that aims to empower women from pastoral communities to earn an income from artwork.

Hellen will now chair the Ushanga Kenya Initiative Steering Committee founded by the Ministry of Tourism to diversify product offerings.

President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed the late Nkaissery as the Interior Cabinet Secretary in 2014 after poaching him from the opposition, where he had been elected for the second term as the Kajiado Central Member of Parliament.

He will be remembered for his efforts in restoring security in the country, after taking office at a time when Kenya faced terror attacks conducted by Somalia-based Al Shabaab group, as well as overseeing key reforms in the police service.

Nkaissery died of heart attack on July 8th. He was laid to rest on Saturday, July 15th at his home in Bisil, Kajiado County.
