600 Kakamega Leaders Ditch NASA for Jubilee

More than 600 members of Amani National Congress (ANC) from Kakamega County have ditched the party for the ruling Jubilee. The members said that the party, led by Musalia Mudavadi, lacked visionary leadership and development agenda. ANC is an affiliate of National Super Alliance (NASA).

Led by Kakamega County ANC Secretary General Kennedy Ngao, the members said that they had realized that their interests and those of the Western Kenya residents would be taken care in President Uhuru’s camp.

“We have had wide consultations and decided to join Jubilee because they have the interests of our people. ANC has poor leadership which is not ready to listen and serve the common citizens," said Ngao.

Ngao said that ANC conducted shambolic party nominations, denying members an opportunity to pick their preferred candidates.

"Members have no confidence in ANC, some members in the party are supporting Jubilee candidates and we do not want to be seen as hypocrites that is why we have decided to ditch ANC and fully support Jubilee," he said.

Rita Kulova, another party leader in Kakamega accused Mudavadi of failing to guide the Party and had no plans for the future.

"ANC has no direction. When Mudavadi left presidency for Raila Odinga and accepted a seat that is not in the constitution that left the party headless," said Kulova.

Navakholo constituency Jubilee Chairman Jotham Wamae welcomed the over 600 members to Jubilee, saying that the move would be a boost Jubilee popularity in Kakamega.

"Jubilee has done a lot to our people. We have witnessed construction of roads, technical training institute and medical college which will benefit our people. I welcome the new members in our winning team," Wamae said.

"This is a blow to ANC and its candidates in the constituency, our focus now are to get the MP seats,” he added.
