Waiguru Promises Martha Karua a 'Village Elder' Job if She Clinches Kirinyaga Governor Seat

John Wanjohi Jun 03, 2017

Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru has promised her rival in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat Martha Karua a job when she clinches the county’s top seat.

Speaking at St Michaels Primary School shortly after she was cleared by the IEBC to contest in the August elections, Waiguru said that show will make Karua a ‘village elder’ due to her age.

Waiguru said the Narc Kenya leader "is old and should have run for higher office or quit politics altogether,’ adding that she will give her a chance to show her leadership skills as an elder.

Waiguru is battling allegations of corruption with the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee recommending that she be barred from holding any public office  or contesting for Kirinyaga seat if found responsible of the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal in which billions were lost through corruption.
